President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the United States will continue diplomatic talks with Iranian representatives in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Monday evening, even as he issued sharp warnings about potential military action against Iranian infrastructure.
According to a White House official, Vice President JD Vance, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and presidential adviser Jared Kushner will lead the American delegation.
In a social media post, Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement and launching attacks on multiple European vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that several ships are now en route to the United States.
The president characterized the U.S. proposal as fair and reasonable, while warning of severe consequences should Iran decline. Trump threatened to destroy Iranian power plants and bridges if a deal is not reached, stating that such action was long overdue and should have been taken by previous administrations over the past several decades.
